Built in 1774 as a traditional Black Forest farmstead. Burned down and rebuilt multiple times. The Auerhahn has a long history. The Tröndle family has been part of this house for a long time.
Hieronymus Rogg, together with his wife Maria Kettlerer, acquires land in Schluchsee and builds the traditional Black Forest farmstead ‘Ronihof’.
Their son Johann Baptist takes over the farm together with his wife.
Their daughter Karolina Rogg was chosen from eight children as heir to the farm and, together with her husband Johann Bernauer, began welcoming guests at the Ronihof. The inn ‘zum Auerhahn’ was opened.
The ‘Ronihof’, together with the inn ‘zum Auerhahn’, was sold to the grand-ducal forestry office in St. Blasien.
The ‘Ronihof’ and the adjoining inn ‘zum Auerhahn’ are granted the hereditary innkeeper’s right.
The business name was officially changed to ‘Auerhahn’.
In the early morning of 5 December, with the tenants absent because of the war, the Auerhahn burned to the ground.
Because of the planned damming of the lake, the new Auerhahn was planned on the opposite side of the road from the former house.
The second generation of the ‘Ronihof’ and the inn ‘Auerhahn’ was completed and opened on 1 May.
Construction of the dam was completed and Lake Schluchsee was dammed. The lake grew from 3 km long and 15 m deep to 7.5 km long and 60 m deep.
The inn ‘Auerhahn’ was extended with a new dining hall.
Long-time tenant Fritz Stoll and his wife bought Seehotel Auerhahn – as the house had grown over the years – from the state forestry administration of Baden-Württemberg.
The Auerhahn once again burned to the ground.
Meinrad Tröndle, the great-great-great-grandson of Hieronymus Rogg, acquired the fire ruins and brought the Auerhahn back into family ownership after more than 115 years.
The foundation stone for the new Auerhahn was laid.
The Auerhahn was opened. The house comprised 25 double rooms, a dining room and a small bar.
Planning began to extend and expand the Auerhahn.
The Auerhahn extensions opened. The house now offered 63 rooms and suites, a generous lobby, a bar, two dining rooms and a sauna area.

The house was extended with a pool area. A further dining hall was also added, the Margaretensaal, which Meinrad Tröndle named after his wife Margret.
The Auerhahn pool area was renovated.
Grandson Marius Tröndle took over the hotel operation, and the renovation works for the new Auerhahn began.
The conservatory, which houses the hotel bar, was added.
The new Auerhahn opens its doors – owner-operated for the first time in exactly 160 years.
