Riesenbühl Circular Walk: an easy route above Schluchsee
The Riesenbühl Circular Walk is a gentle way to explore Schluchsee beyond the lakeshore. This easy round walk begins in Schluchsee village and follows a route around the Riesenbühl, the local mountain overlooking the area. It combines village character, forest paths, and open views — an ideal choice for guests who want a rewarding walk without committing to a full-day hike.
The official route is approximately 5.7 km long and takes around 1 hour 35 minutes, with moderate elevation changes. If you have time, consider the optional detour to the Riesenbühl viewpoint and tower for a broad look across Schluchsee, the lake, and the surrounding Black Forest hills.
Good to know: Sturdy shoes are recommended; walking poles can be helpful. The route starts from the centre of Schluchsee, where cafés and restaurants make a pleasant pre- or post-walk stop.
Challenge moment: Find the Auerhahn Challenge marker, take your favourite forest, village, or viewpoint photo, and share it with @auerhahn_hotel.
